Location: Big Bear is about 90 miles east of Los Angeles via Highway 330 and Highway 18 from San Bemardino. Another route is Highway 38 through Redlands and over Onyx Summit. A third way is to take Highway 18 from the Apple Valley/Victorville area.

Size: 3,000 surface acres, 7 1/2 long x 1 1/2 miles wide with about 22 miles of shoreline. Maximum depth is about 70 feet.

Species: Rainbow trout, silver salmon, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish and pumpkinseed.

Boating: A valid boating permit (available at most marinas) is required.
